MEET THE VETERINARIANS

Dr. Ira Stone

Dr. Ira Stone received his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and Michigan State University and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University.

Along with practicing general medicine and surgery for small animals, Dr. Stone also practices holistic medicine. He is an active member of the Holistic Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Stone participates in several organizations. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association and the Future Farmers of America (FFA). Dr. Stone has received recognition from the FFA for his contributions in curriculum planning and fund raising.

Outside the veterinary hospital, Dr. Stone enjoys the companionship of his many pets, including a dog, two cats, two hamsters, two rabbits, two parakeets, six chickens, two fish and two goats. He loves outdoor sports and can often be found skiing, mountain biking and playing tennis.




Dr. Karmen Couret

Dr. Karmen Couret attended Columbia University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and German Literature in 1988. Following her undergraduate studies, she was admitted to Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1992.

Previous to her arrival at Stone Veterinary Hospital in 1997, Dr. Couret worked as a farm and large animal veterinarian then as an animal emergency hospital clinician. A general small animal veterinary practitioner, Dr. Couret also practices veterinary acupuncture and chiropractics. She is certified by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association.

Dr. Couret's non-professional activities include gardening, horseback riding, and scuba diving. She particularly enjoys spending free time with her animals. Her pets include two English pointers named Perry and Spencer.



Dr. Wasmer

Associate veterinarian at Stone Veterinary Hospital since 2004, Dr. Christine Wasmer graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2000.

With professional interests in feline diabetes and wildlife medicine, Dr. Wasmer is a general veterinary practitioner. Most of her leisure time is spent caring for her pets that include 3 Maltese dogs and 7 cats.



Dr. Dorraine Waldow has cared for pets at Stone Veterinary Hospital since 2003. A Connecticut native, Dr. Waldow attended the University of Connecticut and received her Bachelor's Degree in Pathobiology in 1988. She continued her veterinary education at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. She is a board-certified theriogenologist with the American College of Theriogenology and completed a residency at the University of Florida. Her animal companions include dogs, cats, parrots, chickens, cows and horses.
